Humpin’ Hannah’s

Reviewed 6/15/2011

If you’re reading our review on Humpin’ Hannah’s, you’re obviously new to Boise’s bar scene. Hannah’s has been a staple of Boise’s downtown district for over 30 years and is one of Boise’s best known bars. This large bar features two floors, each with its own bar, pool, foosball, a dance floor and a band stage frequently occupied by Hannah’s own Rocci Johnson Band.

This Boise establishment has been serving Boise’s finest since 1978. To help lighten the load on your wallet, they offer nightly specials Wednesday to Saturday that range from $2 PBR’s to $4 Hannah House Specials.

Come in on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays to watch the Rocci Johnson band hit the stage at 9:30 and take you into the morning, with DJ Naomi Sioux mixing it up during the breaks. Make sure to come energized, though, as RJB is sure to have you dance the night away. To keep you refreshed, make sure to try one of Hannah’s three house specials, including the Hannahlua, Hannahrita and the Hannahcane.

Our take:

Mike’s:  What is there to say about Humpin' Hannah's that hasn't already been said? I love the atmosphere at Hannah's, but due to their covers on the weekend, I rarely make it in. Not to mention there are some other places to find lesser priced drinks. However, it's always fun to stop in and check out the Rocci Johnson band from time to time. And as far as dance floors go on an activity, Hannah's is in the top three in my opinion. Even though it's not the biggest, it's got a great vibe and tons of energy.

Matt’s:  Hannah’s is known for its music and its dancing.  It is a two story bar with plenty of drinks and plenty of places to sit.  It was one of the larger bars that we have visited on our Boise Tour.  Next time we go, I would like to sit on every stool in the bar and see how long it takes me.

Drinking game: Guess how many minutes it takes to sit on every stool and chair in the bar.  However many minutes you are off by, have that many drinks. (Note: If someone is on a stool, you must factor in the time it takes to explain to them that you are not a crazy person and you would just like to borrow their stool. You could also just wait for them to go to the bathroom…that’s not creepy at all.)

Hannah’s has a great atmosphere and is a great place to go if you want to meet new people and listen to good music. (The drinking game might help you meet new people…thank me later.)

Woman’s Perspective:  (We often have a woman that comes with us to these bars.  We like to call her our DD.  When she has a unique take on a bar, we will make sure to inform you!!) “It is a good place to go when you are 21, or you are 45 and you are trying to hit on the 21 year-olds!”  Thanks DD!!
